{allcanada} Sens send Lee to Lightning for Gilroy

OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Senators acquired Matt Gilroy from the Tampa Bay Lightning for fellow defenceman Brian Lee on Monday.

Gilroy has two goals and 15 assists in 53 games with Tampa Bay this season. In 180 career games with the Lightning and Rangers, the 27-year-old has nine goals and 34 assists.

The North Bellmore, N.Y., native won the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in the NCAA in his senior season Boston University.

Gilroy carries a cap hit of $US1,000,000 and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent July 1st.

Lee, 24, has five goals and 23 assists in 167 career games with the Senators.

The native of Moorhead, Minn., was taken ninth overall by Ottawa at the 2005 draft.

Lee carries a cap hit of $875,000 and is set to become a restricted free agent this summer.
