{allcanada} WHL: REINHART'S HAT-TRICK LEADS THE ICE OVER THE BLADES

Max Reinhart had a hat trick Wednesday as the league-leading Kootenay Ice toppled the Saskatoon Blades 6-1 in Western Hockey League play.

Brock Montgomery, Erik Benoit and Jonathan Martin also scored for Kootenay (19-5-3), while Sam Reinhart picked up four assists.

Ice goaltender Nathan Lieuwen made 20 saves for the win.

Jake Trask had the lone goal for Saskatoon (18-9-1).

Blades goaltender Andrey Markov allowed four goals on 22 shots before getting replaced by Adam Todd after Max Reinhart's hat-trick goal to make it 4-1 at 6:29 of the third.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Brandon 5 Vancouver 4; Moose Jaw 3 Prince Albert 0; Spokane 5 Red Deer 2; Lethbridge 4 Medicine Hat 3; Kamloops 6 Victoria 5 (OT); and Kelowna 6 Tri-City 2.

At Saskatoon, Benoit made it 5-1 at 8:46 and Martin added to Saskatoon's misery with a sixth goal with two minutes to go in regulation.

Martin scooped up a rebound off a hard shot from Sam Reinhart and buried it past Todd, who finished with five saves.

Kootenay finished the night 0-for-3 on the power play, while Saskatoon wound up 0-for-5.

Wheat Kings 5 Giants 4@

At Brandon, Man., Brenden Walker scored once and added two assists as the Wheat Kings (17-10-1) defeated Vancouver (17-10-2).

At Prince Albert, Sask., Luke Siemens needed to make just 18 saves for his second shutout of the season as Moose Jaw (17-8-3) downed the Raiders (6-21-1).

At Red Deer, Alta., Mitch Holmberg scored twice and Brenden Kichton had a goal and two assists as Spokane (12-8-3) downed the Rebels (14-9-3).

At Medicine Hat, Alta., Cam Braes scored the winning goal as Lethbridge (8-20-1) won back-to-back games for just the second time this year, edging the Tigers (16-10-3).

At Victoria, Chase Schaber scored in overtime as Kamloops (18-7-1) beat the Royals (11-5-2).
