The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed centre Tyler Bozak on injured reserve with an apparent shoulder injury. Sportsnet 590 The Fan was first to report the news.
During the team's Friday practice Bozak fell hard into the boards and came up favouring his shoulder. After labouring for a while Bozak left the ice.
Following the practice, head coach Ron Wilson would not comment on Bozak's status, however it appears Bozak will be out of the lineup at least 7 days.
The Leafs visit the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, but the team has not called up any players from the Toronto Marlies to replace Bozak, as Matthew Lombardi will be activated from the IR. Lombardi has been out of the lineup since dislocating his shoulder during a faceoff on Nov. 17 against the Nashville Predators.
Bozak has been the Leafs' top centre, playing in between Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul on most nights. In 35 games this season Bozak has seven goals and 25 points.
Saturday's game is the Leafs first visit to Winnipeg since February of 1996.
