Re: [SurroundSound] Re: Convert dts wav to dts flac

Sorry for the multiple posts...one thing you might encounter with some software and/or dlna servers is that they will not decode the dts in flac.  I've found most handle it well.  However with DLNA software some handle it a bit differently than others.  FE, PS3 MServer can output as LPCM or DTS--and their particular implementation has quite a bit of overhead.  Playback, and Isedora do good jobs with wav and flac and won't transcode to LPCM unless you direct them.  Jriver of course does it all on the windows side.  Like I said as long as the flag is present in the original file it is simply a conversion of one format to the other as both are lossless.  So basically anything that will cross convert will suffice.

I should say you can use any codec that will accept DTS...flac, wv, wav all do.  Not certain about aiff and the like.  For some reason I never had luck with them.  I typically use Jriver as it is fairly easy to do conversions on the fly with all the metadata in place.

You can use anything...dbpoweramp, jriver, ect.  Once the dts flag is in place you can do conversions to flac without any problems.
