VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Whitecaps have signed striker Atiba Harris to a contract extension.
The 26-year-old scored a pair of goals in five starts last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
"Atiba is an experienced MLS player that does a lot of the little things right," Whitecaps coach Martin Rennie said in a release. "He is athletic, has a great work rate, holds the ball well, and forces defenders to make mistakes."
Rennie expects Harris will be ready to participate in January's pre-season training camp.
The six-foot-three striker, a native of St. Kitts and Nevis, joined the Whitecaps a year ago after being selected with the fourth overall pick of the 2010 MLS expansion draft from FC Dallas.
