{allcanada} QMJHL: SEA DOGS SCORE EARLY AND OFTEN IN ROUT OF CATARACTES

Bare Necessities

Everything seems to be coming easy right now for Saint John Sea Dogs forward Jonathan Huberdeau.

Huberdeau scored a goal and had two assists in Friday's 7-0 victory over the Shawinigan Cataractes, and now has 27 points in only 12 games.

Zac Phillips and Danick Gaulthier each chipped in a goal and an assist while Spencer MacDonald, Kevin Gagne, Grant West and Oliver Cooper scored singles.

Mathieu Corbiel stopped 30 shots for his fourth shutout of the season while Antonio Mastropietro allowed all seven Sea Dogs goals on 32 shots.

Saint John's scored twice on the power play.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Val-d'Or 5, Cape Breton 3; Moncton 2, Halifax 1 (OT); Drummondville 5, Acadie-Bathurst 2; Quebec 4, Chicoutimi 1; Victoriaville 7, Shawinigan 3 and P.E.I. 7, Gatineau 6 (OT).

At Baie-Comeau, Que., MacDonald opened the scoring at 2:10 of the first period.

The game would stay close for much of the first period but Gagne scored on the power play at 15:46 and less than three minutes later Huberdeau added another to make it 3-0 Sea Dogs after 20 minutes of play.

West extended the lead to 4-0 at 5:14 of the second period.

Phillips' 12 goal of the season came just three minutes later and Cooper scored late in the period, on the power play, to make it 6-0 heading into the third period.

Gaulthier's 19 goal of the season came at 11:22 of the third and capped off the Sea Dogs' 7-0 victory.
