The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired right-handed pitcher Trystan Magnuson from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for cash considerations.
Magnuson, 26, returns to the Blue Jays after spending the 2011 season with the Athletics organization where he split the season between Sacramento (AAA) and Oakland, posting an ERA of 6.14 (10ER/14.2 IP) in nine relief appearances. In 30 relief appearances with the River Cats of the Pacific Coast League, he posted a 4-2 record with five saves and a 2.98 ERA.
The Vancouver, British Columbia native spent three seasons in Toronto's minor league system from 2008-2010 before being traded to Oakland along with RHP Danny Farquhar in exchange for OF Rajai Davis on November 17, 2010.
In three seasons in the Blue Jays system, he posted a record of 8-10 with a 3.53 ERA in 113 games (24 starts), striking out 280 batters over 226.2 innings. The 6-7, 210lb. right-hander was originally selected by Toronto in the 1st round (56th overall) of the 2007 First Year Player Draft.
