The Edmonton Oilers placed four players, including centre Gilbert Brule, on waivers on Sunday with the intention of assigning them to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.
The Oilers also placed forwards Josh Green, Ryan Keller and Ryan O'Marra on waivers and assigned Teemu Hartikainen to the Barons.
Brule appeared in 41 games last season, his third with the Oilers, scoring seven goals and adding two assists with a minus-seven rating.
The 24-year-old forward saw his season campaign cut short after suffering a concussion in March. He did return to action after the incident but was lifted from another game suffering from lightheadedness.
The Oilers reportedly attempted to include him in an off-season trade for Ryan Smyth but the original framework for the deal that included Brule was rejected.
The Edmonton native had a career-high 17 goals and 20 assists in 2009-10 with the Oilers.
Their roster currently sits at 27 players.
