Asked if CTV's Flashpoint has a future on CBS beyond this summer, CBS president Nina Tassler said, "You know, we haven't decided yet. I don't think so."
That certainly doesn't sound very promising for the producers of Flashpoint if they decide to focus on Tassler's second sentence rather than her first.
Flashpoint, of course, is a Canadian cop drama that airs on CTV and is a bona fide ratings hit north of the border. CBS has tended to plug in Flashpoint as a summer series, where it has done fairly well holding the fort through the years.
Tassler's comments about Flashpoint came on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association tour, in a scrum immediately following her executive session with the media, which was dominated by questions about Charlie Sheen and Two and a Half Men.
Meanwhile in Canada, it was announced Wednesday that Flashpoint leads all programs in 2011 Gemini Award nominations with 19.
