What do Sundown, Black Velvet, Run To You and Life is a Highway have in common?
Sounds like the plot for one of those Hangover movies, doesn't it?
Those four songs are the focus of the new CBC reality-competition series Cover Me Canada, which airs this fall. The online audition process opened on Monday.
Canadian groups and musicians aged 12 and up who are not signed to a recording contract are invited to submit video performances of their cover versions of Sundown (Gordon Lightfoot), Black Velvet (Alannah Myles), Run To You (Bryan Adams) or Life is a Highway (Tom Cochrane).
Auditions are open until July 8 at www.cbc.ca/covermecanada.
Chosen finalists will perform and compete live on Cover Me Canada. Top prize is $100,000 and a recording contract for the winner's first original single to be released by Universal Music Canada.
