Boston Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara has a conference call with NHL vice-president of hockey operations Mike Murphy today to discuss and assess his hit on Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty on Tuesday night.
Pacioretty was taken from the ice on a stretcher after a scary hit from Chara late in the second period of Montreal's 4-1 win over the Bruins at the Bell Centre.
Pacioretty was trying to get past Chara when he was hit hard and went head-first into the glass partition between the benches with 15.8 seconds left in the period.
He lay motionless for several minutes and had his eyes closed as he was lifted onto a stretcher and taken off the ice.
A team spokesman said Pacioretty was conscious, had movement in all his extremities and was taken to hospital for observation.
Chara was given a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct.
