The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Mike Brown to a new multi-year contract on Wednesday.
Brown has two goals and three assists for five points in 26 games for the Leafs this season. He has a team-high plus 3 rating and 41 minutes in penalties.
"We are extremely pleased to have Mike under contract for the next three years," said Leafs' president and general manager Brian Burke. "His blend of character, energy and toughness has proven to be a good fit in the overall structure and makeup of our team."
The 25-year old Brown was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks this summer in exchange for Toronto's fifth-round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
In 169 career NHL games with Anaheim, Vancouver and Toronto, the native of Northbrook, Illinois has registered 11 goals and six assists for 17 points with 347 penalty minutes. Brown was originally selected by the Canucks in the fifth round, 159th overall, at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
