CALGARY -- Canada will send a young team to the upcoming world ski championships because of injuries to a number of veteran racers.
The team of eight men and seven women includes three World Cup winners, two world championship medallists and 13 Olympians.
Crystal Globe winner Erik Guay of Mont-Tremblant, Que., will be joined by veterans Britt and Michael Janyk of Whistler, B.C., and Jan Hudec of Calgary.
Ben Thomsen of Invermere, B.C., and Marie-Pier Prefontaine of Saint-Sauveur, Que., are among the Canadians making their debut at the event.
Robbie Dixon, Manuel Osborne-Paradis and defending downhill champion John Kucera are unable to participate due to injuries.
The world championships begin Tuesday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
