{allcanada} Money for nothing

Despite a lack of starpower or wins, the Raptors remain one of the NBA's most-valuable franchises.

In the event you haven't seen it, Forbes Magazine recently-ranked the value of NBA teams and as you would expect, some of the usual suspects, (the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics,) are at the top.

However, with the Toronto Raptors sitting amongst the top-10 teams, perhaps when the uneducated chatter about contraction comes up, people will now leave Toronto off the list. Especially consider the Raptors are in the top 10 without multiple championships or highly-marketable players on a team outside the US. Toronto doesn't have any pull with "Uncle Sam" and with all that considered, it's a rather lofty ranking. (If you would like to look at the complete list and the rankings, you can check it out here.)

Even though Raptor fans are suffering thought a winless spell by the team, in the category of things could be worse, the Cleveland Cavaliers have seen their value plummet more than any other team on the Forbes list.

Since the much-ballyhooed return of LeBron James to Cleveland back in December, the Cavs have won exactly one more NBA game than me, you and the dudes in the local beer league on Tuesday night.

The Cavs have lost 18 straight going 1-26, since that night. Ouch! After having the best record in the NBA last season, Cleveland has the worst record in the league this season. No team has ever gone from top to bottom with respect to won-loss record in respective seasons.

With all the trade talk around Carmelo Anthony settling down, I wonder when the drums start to beat for Utah point guard Deron Williams.

According to reports, the sixth-year player is becoming impatient and unhappy with the team's progress, citing chemistry amongst other things as one of the reasons for the teams lack of success.

One of the teams that has done it right and happened to have a star fall into their lap was the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was easy when Greg Oden was scooped up by the Portland Trailblazers and the decision was made for them. All-world forward Kevin Durant put up a career-high 47 points in the win over Minnesota on Wednesday night and now the Thunder need to take the next step and win in the playoffs but that's easier said than done. Give them credit as they have put themselves in the playoff conversation when it comes to advancing toward a possible title.

It was a big game for Kevin Love as well as he scored 31 and grabbed 21 boards giving him his third season and career 30-point, 20-rebound performance. Love now ranks fifth among active players in that category. The active leader is Shaquille O'Neal with 18.
