Matt MacKay had a goal and two assists to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen in Western Hockey League action Friday night.
Shayne Wiebe and Rene Hunter had a goal and an assist each for the Wheat Kings (18-26-8), who have won two straight games and four of their past five. Mark Stone also scored for Brandon.
Kris Foucault, Alex Roach and Brooks Macek replied for the Hitmen (15-31-3), who have lost three straight games. Misha Fisenko had two assists.
Brandon goalie Liam Liston made 28 saves, while his Calglary counterpart Brandon Glover stopped 30 of 34 shots he faced.
Wiebe scored the lone goal of the opening period before Foucault split the Brandon defence and roofed a backhand shot past Liston for a highlight reel goal at 3:30 of the second period.
After Roach scored a power-play goal for Calgary, the Wheat Kings responded with goals by Hunter and MacKay to take a 3-2 lead. MacKay's goal was an easy tap-in after Ryley Miller's point shot hit referee Trevor Hansen and bounced right onto his stick.
The Hitmen then responded with a weird goal of their own at 17:21 of the second as Macek banked the puck in off of Liston's leg from behind the net.
Just after the nine-minute mark of the third period, Glover made a nice past save on a shot from the slot by Stone. Two minutes later, Stone wasn't denied when he one-timed a drop pass from MacKay past Glover for the game-winning goal.

At Everett, Wash., Tyler Maxwell and Cody Fowlie each scored two goals as the Silvertips routed Seattle.
Clayton Cumiskey, Josh Winquist and Josh Birkholz also scored for the Silvertips (19-23-7), who snapped a four-game losing streak. Kent Simpson earned his first shutout of the season in goal for Everett, making 35 saves.
Calvin Pickard stopped 20 of 26 shots for Seattle (18-22-9) before being pulled early in the third period. Michael Salmon stopped four of five in relief.

At Kelowna, B.C., Cody Chikie had a goal and set up three others as the Rockets flew past Prince George.
Kevin Smith, Zach Franko, Evan Bloodoff, Geordie Wudrick, Colton Sissons and Shane McColgan all contributed to Kelowna's (28-20-0) well-rounded offence.
Brock Hirsche, Troy Bourke and Martin Marincin all scored for the Cougars (24-22-3).

Hayden Rintoul, Elgin Pearce and Jesse Ismond all had a goal and an assist for the Ice (31-16-3), while Kevin King and Brendan Hurley added singles.
Austin Fyten struck twice for Lethbridge (17-24-9) and Daniel Johnston had a goal.

At Moose Jaw, Sask., Dylan Hood scored twice on the power play as the Warriors beat Regina.
Sam Fioretti scored the game-winning goal with 7:29 left in the third period for Moose Jaw (31-18-2). Antonin Honejsek had the other goal.
Andrew Rieder, Jordan Weal and Shayne Neigum scored for the Pats (17-25-7) who led by a goal on three separate occasions, but couldn't pick up any points.

At Red Deer, Alta., Darcy Kuemper stopped 31 shots to post his 10th shutout of the season as the Rebels blanked Edmonton.
Brett Ferguson scored twice for Red Deer (34-12-5). Aaron Borejko, Andrej Kudrna and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also tallied for the winners.
Laurent Brossoit made 34 saves for the Oil Kings (22-24-3).
