{allcanada} WHL: BLADES DOMINATE BRUINS TO WIN THIRD STRAIGHT GAME

Saskatoon's tour of the Western Hockey League's B.C. Division is off to a great start.

Josh Nicholls had a pair of goals as the Blades scored five straight times to down the Chilliwack Bruins 7-3 in Western Hockey League action Wednesday.

Brent Benson had a goal and an assist, while Lukas Sutter, Connor Cox, Braeden Johnson and Chris Collins also scored for the Blades (20-6-1). Alex Elliot added three assists in the win.

The Blades, winners of three straight, opened up their five-game swing through the province with a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Giants on Tuesday. Next up is the Kamloops Blazers on Friday.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Swift Current 2 Lethbridge 1; Prince Albert 5 Edmonton 4 (SO); Tri-City 4 Medicine Hat 1; Prince George 4 Calgary 3; Kelowna 3 Seattle 2; and Kootenay 5 Portland 3.

At Chilliwack, B.C., Steven Stanford had a stellar outing, turning aside 36 shots, while having to contend with five straight power plays for Chilliwack over the first and second periods.

Curt Gogol, Mike Forsyth and Robin Soudek scored for the Bruins (12-10-3). Ryan Howse had an assist, his first point since being named to the Canadian National Junior Team selection camp.

Lucas Gore made 14 saves before being pulled in favour of Braden Gamble with the score at 4-1. Despite only playing half the game, Gore moved into top spot for minutes played in Bruins franchise history, passing Mark Friesen, who had played 5,328 minutes for Chilliwack.

Broncos 2 Hurricanes 1

At Swift Current,Sask., Justin Dowling scored the game winner 1:14 into overtime to lift the Broncos over Lethbridge.

At Edmonton; Mark McNeill scored the only goal in a shootout and Jamie Tucker made 42 saves as Prince Albert beat the Oil Kings.

At Kennewick,Wash., Mason Wilgosh and Brooks Macek each had a goal and an assist as Tri-City ended Medicine Hat's eight-game winning streak.

At Prince George, B.C., Charles Inglis scored his second goal of the game at 9:53 of the third period to lift the Cougars over Calgary.

At Kelowna, B.C., Zach Franko had a goal and an assist as the Rockets beat Seattle.

Ice 5 Winterhawks 3

At Portland, Ore., Kevin King scored a pair of goals to lead Kootenay over the Winterhawks.
