The NHL has decided to fine but not suspend Flames forward Curtis Glencross for his cross-check to the face of Canucks defenceman Keith Ballard during Wednesday's game in Calgary.

Glencross received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for the cross-check, which happened late in the second period of the Canucks' 7-2 rout. Ballard stayed in the game.

The league made its decision Friday after a hearing with Glencross. The size of the fine levied on the winger wasn't immediately known.

Glencross has 11 points (seven goals) in 24 games this season, his third with Calgary. His 40 penalty minutes are the second-highest total on the team.
