Unlike the Grammys, Juno nominations are still a long way off. But at least one Canadian superstar is already guaranteed to be in the house.
Hip-hop phenom Drake will host the 40th annual Juno Awards next year in Toronto, organizers have announced.
"I am beyond honoured to be hosting this monumental Juno Awards in the greatest city on Earth," the 24-year-old rapper said in a statement.
"I want to bring a youthful energy to the show and encourage people to be excited about what Canadian music has to offer. See you all at the show."
The Toronto native — born Aubrey Graham — got his start on the CTV series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He took the rap world by storm last year, earning nominations for two Grammy Awards and four Junos — he won new artist and rap recording of the year at the latter — even before his debut album Thank Me Later was released this summer.
The 2011 Juno Awards will air live from Toronto's Air Canada Centre on Sunday, March 27. Nominations will be announced Feb. 1.
