Once the Kootenay Ice got scoring there was no stopping them Saturday night.
Kootenay ended a long scoring drought with three power-play goals in the first period and went on to rout the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-2 in Western Hockey League play on Saturday night.
Steele Boomer had back-to-back power-play goals for Kootenay (17-7-2), while Kevin King scored and had two assists. Sam Reinhart, Drew Czerwonka and Jesse Ismond added singles.
Travis Bobbee and Luke Lockhart tallied for Seattle (11-6-7).
After Lockhart opened the scoring for the Thunderbirds with a power-play goal at 8:44 of the first period, the Ice scored six straight.
Kootenay had been shut out in its last two games and gave up 10-straight goals before the streak ended after 113 minutes and 19 seconds when Boomer scored on with the man advantage to even the score at 13:07 of the first period.
The Ice added another power-play goal by Boomer, his sixth of the season. King had his marker to make it a 3-1 lead after the opening period.
Czerwonka made it 4-1 at 1:35 of the second period and Ismond's goal at 5:03 chased Seattle goaltender Calvin Pickard on a night when the Thunderbirds gave away 3,000 bobbleheads with his likeness.

At Brandon, Man., Collin Bowman scored with 1:12 left in the third period to lift Moose Jaw to victory over the Wheat Kings.
Quinton Howden had two goals and Spencer Edwards also scored for the Warriors (15-11-1) who won their third game over the Wheat Kings in eight days.
Shayne Wiebe scored all three goals for Brandon (11-17-2), which has lost seven-straight games.

At Saskatoon, Curtis Hamilton scored twice and added an assist as the Blades cruised by Prince Albert.
Matej Stransky, Josh Nicholls, Lukas Sutter and Jake Trask each added singles for Saskatoon (18-6-1).
Andrew Herle and Brandon Herrod answered for the Raiders (9-15-4).

At Calgary, Michael St. Croix had a goal and an assist to lead Edmonton past the Hitmen.
T.J. Foster and Jordan Hickmott also scored for the Oil Kings (11-14-1), who have reeled off three-straight victories.
Misha Fisenko scored the lone goal for Calgary (6-19-1), which has lost three in a row and four of their past five.

At Lethbridge, Alta., Adam Lowry had the power-play winner with six minutes left in regulation time as Swift Current edged the Hurricanes.
Taylor Vause scored and added an assist for the Broncos (15-14-0), while Reece Scarlett and Killian Hutt added singles.
Russell Maxwell and Mark Reners both had a goal and an assist for Lethbridge (11-11-4), while Neil Tarnasky had a marker.

At Red Deer, Alta., Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Daulton Siwak scored in the shootout as the Rebels slipped by Vancouver.
Mathew Dumba and Colin Archer scored for Red Deer (18-7-3) in regulation time.
The Giants (13-9-4) got third-period goals from Neil Manning and Jordan Martinook to force a scoreless overtime.

At Everett, Wash., Emerson Etem scored twice as Medicine Hat to a skated past the Silvertips.
Linden Vey added a goal and two assists for the Tigers (15-7-1), who won their fifth-straight game. Tyler Pitlick and Dylan Bredo scored the other goals.
Jari Erricson scored all three goals for Everett (11-11-4), which has lost three in a row. The goals were the first of Erricson's WHL career.

At Kamloops, B.C., Martin Marincin had a goal and three assists to lead Prince George to victory against the Blazers.
Charles Inglis, with two, Nick Buonassisi, Brett Connolly, with his 20th, Cody Carlson and Taylor Stefishen also scored for the Cougars (14-10-2).
Brendan Ranford, with two, Jordan DePape, Brady Gaudet and Colin Smith replied for Kamloops (13-13-1). Ranford leads the WHL with 24 goals.

At Spokane, Ore., Geordie Wudrick scored twice including the overtime winner as Kelowna overcame the Chiefs.
Wudrick and Zach Franko scored in the first period to put the Rockets (14-11-0) up 2-0.
After a scoreless second, Tyler Johnson scored and Steven Kuhn sent it to overtime with a short-handed goal for Spokane (12-9-4).

At Kennewick, Wash., Brendan Shinnimin scored the only goal in the shootout to lead Tri-City in an upset of Portland.
Jordan Messier and Justin Feser scored in regulation for the Americans (15-9-2), who have won three straight.
Brendan Leipsic scored twice in the third period for Portland (21-5-2) to tie the game.
