The Edmonton Oilers have decided on who will be their backup goaltender this season, placing Jeff Deslauriers on waivers and keeping Devan Dubnyk.
Dubnyk played in the Oilers' 3-2 shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets last Thursday night, the only game that starter Nikolai Khabibulin has not played in this season.
Deslauriers split time with Dubnyk in relief of the injured Khabibulin last year, posting a 16-28-4 record with a .901 save percentage, a 3.26 goals-against average and three shutouts.
The 26-year-old was a second-round draft pick (31st overall) by the Oilers in 2002.
