{allcanada} OHL: RANGERS POWER PLAY SCORES SIX TIMES IN ROUT OF KNIGHTS

Kitchener's hot power play shredded London's normally stingy penalty killing as the Rangers hammered the Knights 8-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

Kitchener (10-5-0) came into the game with the second-best power play in the OHL while London (9-4-1) had the second-best penalty-killing record.

But after Kitchener scored six goals on eight power-play opportunities, the Rangers took over as tops in the league with an extra man and the Knights plummeted to 12th in penalty killing.

Ryan Murphy and Jason Akeson each had a goal and four assists for the Rangers, while Jamie Doornbosch, Gabriel Landeskog, Jonathan Jasper, Matia Marcantuoni, Matthew Tipoff and Zach Lorentz also scored for Kitchener.

Michael Houser started in goal for the Knights and allowed six goals in two periods. Igor Bobkov took over in the third period and ceded two scores as the Rangers outshot the Knights 45-29.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Kingston 3 Peterborough 2; Mississauga 3 Niagara 0; and Plymouth 3 Battalion 2 (SO).

At London, Ont., Brandon Maxwell stopped 27 shots for Kitchener.

Michael D'Orazio opened the scoring for the Knights early in the first period and Andreas Athanasiou closed it out at 16:27 of the third period after a good portion of the 8,921 crowd had left the John Labatt Centre.

At Peterborough, Ont., Nathan Moon had a goal and two assists as Kingston edged the Petes.

At Brampton, Ont., Mitchell Heard scored twice within a 20-second span in the first period and added another in the shootout as Plymouth edged the Battalion.
