{allcanada} MARTIN, BERNARD HEADLINE STRONG FIELD FOR CANADA CUP

The Season of Champions gets underway with the Canada Cup this week in Medicine Hat, the first time the city has hosted the event.
 
Ten of the finest men's and ten of the best women's teams in the country will battle for first place prize money of $25,000 and a berth into next year's Canada Cup in Cranbrook, B.C.
 
On the men's side, the lineup includes the reigning Olympic gold medallist, four-time Brier, 2008 world champion and three-time Canada Cup winner Kevin Martin of Edmonton; the 2010 Tim Hortons Brier and world champion and 2008 Canada Cup winner Kevin Koe of Edmonton; Coldwater, Ontario's Glenn Howard, a three-time Brier and world champion and 2006 Olympic gold medallist Brad Gushue of St. John's, along with his new third, six-time Brier winner, four-time world and three-time Canada Cup champion Randy Ferbey.
 
The women's field is headed by Calgary's Cheryl Bernard, the 2010 Olympic silver medallist; four-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts winner, 2008 Ford Worlds and 2007 Canada Cup champion Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg; two-time Canada Cup winner and 2006 Olympic bronze medallist Shannon Kleibrink of Calgary; two-time Scotties and 2007 world champion Kelly Scott of Kelowna and 2008 Canada Cup winner Stefanie Lawton of Saskatoon.

The first six editions of the Canada Cup, which began in 2003, were held in Kamloops, British Columbia, before the event moved to Yorkton, Saskatchewan in 2009.
