Re: [SurroundSound] Re: Abridged summary of surroundsound@googlegroups.com - 15 Messages in 4 Topics

The problem is that allowing connection for the time that it may take to notice, even if only a few minutes, is time that the hub address and contents are being broadcast in the DHT protocol.  It certainly isn't personal.  Its most likely the only way that it can be handled at this time.

IMHO an auto bahn was OTT. A word in his 'shell-like' would have been
much more appropriate.
However I'm not familiar with how moderators can tell when members
have not disabled the default DHT. It may not be easy for mods to
whisper in one's ear about it, so they are forced to use a ban, I
dunno.

On the other hand it raises this issue of security again and I for one
am all for as much security as possible.
I wonder what is going to happen, in the not distant future, when
people become lackadaisical about updating their Apex and forget to
check on DHT, that is now enabled by default.
Will we be getting more bans soon due to such oversights?
How can we better solve this problem of DHT being enabled by default?

Personally I'm still running version 1.3.5 and see no reason yet to
update, but sooner or later I guess I will update. Will I remember at
that time to uncheck DHT default setting.........?
