
NEW YORK (AP)—Derek Stepan(notes) and Erik Christensen(notes) scored in the shootout to lead the New York Rangers to a 5-4 win over the Ottawa Senators on Friday night.
Stepan, Brian Boyle(notes), Derek Boogard and Marc Staal(notes) scored for the Rangers (4-1-0) in regulation.
Jason Spezza(notes) had two goals, and Erik Karlsson(notes) and Chris Campoli(notes) also scored for the Senators (2-4-1).
After Stepan gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the shootout, Daniel Alfredsson(notes) tied it for the Senators. Christensen then sent a shot past Ottawa goalie Brian Elliott's(notes) stickside.
Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist(notes) stopped Peter Regin's(notes) tying attempt to secure the win.
