It was an unlikely victory for the Gatineau Olympiques on Friday night.
Maxime Clermont made 23 saves to stun the Drummondville Voltigeurs and lead Gatineau to a 3-0 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
It was Drummondville's first loss of the season. Earlier this week the Voltigeurs had been named the Canadian Hockey League's top-ranked team after their solid 7-0 start.
That all changed when Drummondville faced Clermont's Olympiques. The 18-year-old from Montreal earned his first QMJHL shutout in the second start of his junior career.
Even with the win, Gatineau remains in last place in the West Division and has the fourth-worst record in the league with five points.
The Voltigeurs remain at the top of the QMJHL standings with 14 points, although the Quebec Remparts have now pulled within one.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was Quebec 8 Cape Breton 2, Saint John 4 Halifax 3 (SO), P.E.I. 4 Baie-Comeau 2, Montreal 3 Chicoutimi 1, Rimouski 4 Acadie-Bathurst 3 and Lewiston 8 Rouyn-Noranda 0.
