The Montreal Canadiens announced on Friday that Max Pacioretty is being assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
Pacioretty played 52 games for the Canadiens last season, although he didn't see time in the playoffs. The forward scored three goals and 11 assists, with 20 penalty minutes.
Pacioretty was selected 22nd overall by Montreal in the 2007 NHL entry draft. He made his debut with the Canadiens in the 2008-09 season.
The Canadiens close out their pre-season with a game against the New York Islanders on Saturday in Quebec City.
Montreal begins the regular season with a game in Toronto on Hockey Night in Canada (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 7 p.m. ET).
