MANCHESTER, England -- Calgary-born midfielder Owen Hargreaves has been included in Manchester United's 25-man Premier League squad despite struggling to recover from a series of knee problems.
The England midfielder made one brief substitute appearance in May to end a 19-month absence from the game, during which time he had surgery on both knees to treat persistent tendinitis.
But the pain returned during pre-season training and Hargreaves went back to Colorado to see specialist Dr. Richard Steadman.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't know when Hargreaves will be able to play again, saying that he ``continues to battle for full fitness.''
Hargreaves joined United from Bayern Munich in July 2007.
