Brendan Gallagher scored twice and had three assists as the Vancouver Giants posted a 9-4 win over the Chilliwack Bruins in Western Hockey League play Friday night.
Jordan Martinook's first of the season came with less than three minutes remaining in the second. The 18-year-old forward tipped Neil Manning's point shot past Bruins starter Lucas Gore at the 17:41 mark of the second period.
The goal stood as the winner on a night where the Giants raised their fifth consecutive B.C. Division banner to the rafters at the Pacific Coliseum.
After playing catch up for much of the first 40 minutes, Vancouver took control of the game late in the second scoring three unanswered goals in less than three minutes.
Chilliwack surrendered four one-goal leads during the first two periods.
Elsewhere in the WHL it was Brandon 5 Regina 4, Swift Current 4 Moose Jaw 1, Saskatoon 3 Prince Albert 2, Lethbridge 5 Calgary 3, Red Deer 4 Edmonton 1, Kamloops 5 Prince George 2 and Everett 4 Seattle 3.
At Vancouver, Marek Tvrdon also scored twice for the Giants (1-0-0), while captain Craig Cunningham, James Henry, Matt MacKay and Dalton Sward rounded out the scoring for Vancouver.
Ryan Howse had a hat-trick for Chilliwack (0-1-0). Jamie Crooks had the other Bruins' goal.

Wheat Kings 5 Pats 4
At Brandon, Man., Mark Stone set up four goals as the Wheat Kings edged Regina.
Tyrel Seaman and David Toews both scored their first WHL goals for Brandon (1-0-0). Brenden Walker, Mike Ferland and Jesse Sinatynski added markers.
Myles Bell, Garrett Mitchell, Hampus Gustafsson and Dane Muench, with his first WHL goal, replied for Regina (0-1-0).

Broncos 4 Warriors 1
At Moose Jaw, Sask., Brad Hoban scored a pair of goals as Swift Current beat the Warriors.
Stepan Novotny and Taylor Vause scored 1:18 apart at the start of the second period for the Broncos (1-0-0).
Antonin Honejsek cut the lead in half for Moose Jaw (0-1-0), but the home side would get no closer.

At Saskatoon, Darian Dziurzynski had back-to-back goals in the third period as the Blades rallied to a win over the Prince Albert.
Dalton Thrower scored in the first period for Saskatoon (1-0-0).
Todd Fiddler and Brandon Herrod tallied for Prince Albert (0-1-0).

Hurricanes 5 Hitmen 3
At Calgary, Austin Fyten's hat trick and assist led Lethbridge past the Hitmen.
Cam Braes scored twice for the Hurricanes (1-0-0), who rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Landon Oslanski chipped in with three helpers for Lethbridge, while Mitch Maxwell and Brennan Yadlowski each had two assists.
Cody Sylvester scored once and set up another for the Hitmen(0-1-0). Zak Stebner and Justin Kirsch also scored for the Hitmen

Rebels 4 Oil Kings 1
At Edmonton, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Andrej Kudrna both scored on the power play as Red Deer topped the Oil Kings.
Mathew Dumba and Tyson Ness had the other goals for the Rebels (1-0-0).
Michael St. Croix was the lone scorer for Edmonton (0-1-0).

Blazers 5 Cougars 2
At Kamloops, B.C., the Blazers scored two goals 58 seconds apart in to tame Prince George.
JT Barnett and Brendan Ranford struck at 15:31 and 16:29 of the second to give the Blazers a 4-1 lead. Dylan Willick had two goals, including an empty-netter for Kamloops (1-0-0) and Chase Schaber also scored.
Brett Connolly and Martin Marincin replied for the Cougars (0-1-0).

Silvertips 4 Thunderbirds 3
At Everett, Wash., Tyler Maxwell scored twice, including the winner, as the Silvertips eked out a win over Seattle.
Campbell Elynuik and Kellan Tochkin also scored for Everett (1-0-0), while Ryan Murray dished out three assists.
Marcel Noebels, Luke Lockhart and Burke Gallimore scored for Seattle (0-1-0).
