Hamilton city council has reportedly voted 13-2 in favour of beginning new negotiations for a potential alternate site for a new stadium.
CHML is reporting that settling on a mutually agreeable location is the goal for a Pan Am Games stadium that would eventually become home to the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Hamilton council originally voted 12-3 several weeks ago to develop the stadium at a West Harbour site against the wishes of Ticats owner Bob Young. Young's preference for an East Mountain location was dismissed at the time, and Young wrote a letter to city council that suggested that he may move the team when its lease at Ivor Wynne Stadium expires after 2011.
The Pan Am Host Corporation has reportedly given the city a new deadline of Sept. 14 to agree on a new stadium site.
