We don't want to get Christina Hendricks fired from "Mad Men," so we didn't press her too hard for details on the show's new season. Prior seasons, however, are another matter.
So when the Emmy-nominated Hendricks came to the KTLA Morning Show Thursday (July 29), Zap2it had to ask her about a scene from last season that a lot of people read as a sign that her character, the smart, sexy Joan Holloway, and ad man Don Draper (Jon Hamm) had a past as more than just co-workers.
"It's really funny. I've had that response from a lot of people who say, 'What about Joan and Don?' And I'm like, 'Where are you getting this?'" she says, laughing.
The scene is from "Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency" -- "the lawnmower episode," as Hendricks puts it. Joan and Don are in a hospital waiting room after a colleague is felled by said lawnmower, and the ease they feel with one another led a lot of people to believe there was something more than just friendship there.
Hendricks isn't sure. "He's a wonderful actor, so the chemistry is natural," she says of Hamm. "And of course those two characters have been very respectful of one another and worked together for a long time."
"Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency" is also the episode Hendricks submitted for Emmy consideration. "I had some really fun things [in it], and I think the episode in general is an exciting one for a lot of the viewers. I got some great scenes with Peggy [Elisabeth Moss] and Don and my husband [Sam Page], so I chose that one."
