Dimitri Tsoumpas' loss may well be the Calgary Stampeders gain.
The once, and possibly future Stamps' offensive lineman was released by the Miami Dolphins on Thursday. Tsoumpas now has 10 days to sign with another NFL team. If he does not then he becomes Stampeders property for the remainder of the season.
"From what I understand, Dimitri is looking at his options," Stampeders head coach John Hufnagel told the Calgary Sun. "We're pleased with the way our offensive line has performed through the start of this season, but if he decides to come back to Calgary, we definitely would be happy to have him."
An Edmonton native, Tsoumpas was the Stampeders nominee for top Canadian last season. He was chosen second overall by the Stamps in 2008, helping lead them to a Grey Cup that year.
Rookie Steve Myddelton currently holds the Stamps starting right-guard job.
