Tim Stutzle's status is in the air as the Ottawa Senators return to the ice from the Olympic break.

The 24-year-old forward is a game-time decision for Thursday's game against the Detroit Red Wings as he deals with an illness, Sportsnet's Alex Adams reported.

Stutzle did not take part in Ottawa's morning skate.

He is returning to the Senators after playing for Germany at the Winter Olympics, where he scored four goals and picked up two assists in five games.

Selected third overall by Ottawa in the 2020 draft, Stutzle has been the Senators' leading scorer in 2025-26, with 28 goals and 61 points in 57 games.

Ottawa will look to begin a second-half surge back into playoff contention as it welcomes the Red Wings to Canadian Tire Centre. The Senators are 28-22-7 and sit six points back of the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
