Defenceman Josh Morrissey has been moved to the injured reserve list, it was announced Tuesday.
The move is retroactive to Feb. 12 and comes after the veteran blueliner suffered an upper-body injury in Canada's Olympic opener against Czechia roughly two weeks ago.
Defenceman Kale Clague has been recalled from the AHL's Manitoba Moose in a corresponding move.
The 30-year-old Morrissey was hopeful to return for Canada's gold medal game against the U.S. on Sunday but was held out, along with Canada captain Sidney Crosby because of a lower-body injury. Canada fell 2-1 in overtime and was forced to settle for the silver medal.
It was the second straight year of hard luck for the Calgary native, who was forced to miss Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off final against the U.S. because of an illness.
Morrissey has 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points in 56 games so far this season for Winnipeg.
Clague, 27, has eight goals and 21 points in 44 games for the AHL's Manitoba Moose in 2025-26. He has not played a game at the NHL level yet this season.
