The BC Lions announced an extension for quarterback Nathan Rourke on Tuesday.
The new deal takes the Victoria, BC native through the 2028 season. Rourke's previous deal was set to expire at the end of the 2026 campaign.
"I'm honoured to continue my lifelong dream as a professional football player with the BC Lions," Rourke said in a statement. "I'm fortunate to be part of an organization that believes in me and trusts me to lead both on and off the field."
Rourke, 27, appeared in 18 games for the Lions last season, his third with the team. He threw for 5,290 yards on 352-for-500 passing with 31 touchdowns to 16 interceptions. His season was acknowledged by Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian honours.
This is Rourke's second stint with the team, having previously spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Lions. In 2023, the Ohio product signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also spent time on the practice squads of the New England Patriots, New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons.
Rourke is the older brother of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Kurtis Rourke.
