The Winnipeg Jets re-signed defenceman Isaak Phillips to a two-year, two-way contract Friday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $812,500 at the NHL level.

Winnipeg acquired Phillips from the Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 15 in exchange for fellow defenceman Dmitry Kuzmin.

Phillips, who was a restricted free agent, had one goal in three games with the Blackhawks last season. He spent the majority of the year in the AHL, splitting time between the Rockford IceHogs and Manitoba Moose and finishing with four goals and 16 points in 67 games.

The 23-year-old from Barrie, Ont., was drafted in the fifth round, 141st overall, by the Blackhawks in 2020.

He has recorded two goals and 12 points in 56 career games with Chicago.
