Dylan Samberg will return to the lineup when the Jets host the Los Angeles Kings on Friday (8 p.m. ET; TSN3, FDSNW) on Friday.
Samberg has missed 21 games after blocking a shot during the second period of a 4-1 loss against the Nashville Predators on Nov. 23.
"I had that feeling where you just know it was broken," Samberg said following practice on Thursday. "At that point there's not really much you can do. Just take it with a grain of salt and work hard to try and get back in shape. Now we're here."
Prior to the injury, Samberg had six points (three goals, three assists) in 21 games. Winnipeg went 17-4-0 with him in the lineup, and is 11-8-2 without him.
"He has earned the opportunity to become a top four defenseman the last few years," Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel said of Samberg, who will partner with Neal Pionk on the second pair. "Him being able to go against top-six forwards, his footwork, his ability to close, be physical and be heavy on those guys makes such a difference. He is a key piece for us and when you lose those guys, they are hard to replace."
Defenseman Ville Heinola will be scratched to make room in the lineup for Samberg.Entertainment Plaza - TV, Movies, Sports, Music, Soaps
