The Toronto Maple Leafs traded on Wednesday for a defenceman on the Arizona Coyotes – but not the one you're probably thinking about.
The Leafs obtained Conor Timmins, 24, in exchange for six-foot-nine centre Curtis Douglas. Timmins will help bolster a battered Leafs blueline, which is already down Morgan Rielly (knee), Jake Muzzin (cervical spine injury) and T.J. Brodie (oblique injury).
Speculation has had it that the Maple Leafs are one of the teams in the running to obtain Coyotes defenceman Jakob Chychrun.
Timmins, a native of St. Catharines, Ont., has played two games for the Coyotes this season, going without a point and registering a minus-2.
