{allcanada} Senators sign 2021 first-round pick Tyler Boucher to entry-level contract

The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Tyler Boucher to a three-year, entry-level contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to Sportsnet's Jeff Marek, Boucher will leave Boston University after one semester and join the OHL's Ottawa 67s.

Boucher, the son of former NHL goaltender Brian Boucher, was the Senators' first pick -- 10th overall -- in the 2021 NHL Draft. The 18-year-old had three points and a team-leading 34 penalty minutes in 17 games for BU this season.

Before that he spent two seasons with the U.S. National Development Program where he appeared in 29 games against USHL competition, scoring 16 points and recording 60 penalty minutes.

"We're pleased to have Tyler under contract," Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said in a statement. "He's a power forward who plays a heavy, physical game. He's driven, is strong with the puck, has a big shot and goes hard to the net. His good hands in tight areas will be of particular benefit to him going forward. We expect him to be an important part of this team's future."
