Paul Stastny is expected to skate Monday, and the forward could be close to returning from a foot injury.
"I think he'll skate tomorrow so hopefully that's the start of him coming back," coach Paul Maurice said.
Stastny has been out since being hit in the foot with a puck and leaving in the third period of a 2-0 loss to the New York Islanders on Nov. 6.
Maurice said if Stastny has a good day Monday he could travel with the Jets on a three-game road trip that starts at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
"I think once he gets back on the ice I don't think it's very long after that," he said. "It's up to the conditioning part of it. We'll see. They're pretty comfortable that they've been able to do enough to keep him not far off it."
The Jets play the Pittsburgh Penguins at home Monday.
