{allcanada} Drouin won't play for Canadiens against Islanders

Jonathan Drouin will not play for the Canadiens against the New York Islanders at Bell Centre on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; TSN2, RDS, MSG+, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).

The forward took part in the morning skate, but Montreal coach Dominique Ducharme said he's not 100 percent.

"We're not taking any chances with something like this, so he won't be in the lineup," Ducharme said.

Drouin was hit in the head by a shot during a 3-0 win against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. The 26-year-old was taken to hospital and tests confirmed he does not have a concussion. He is second on the Canadiens with seven points (two goals, five assists) in 11 games, behind forward Nick Suzuki (eight points; one goal, seven assists).

"There's no concussion but still he got a puck to the head," Ducharme said. We want to make sure it's not a concussion and so on. It's not like an elbow or a shoulder or something like that, so we want to be careful."
