Alex Stalock is not expected to play this season because of a heart condition, Oilers general manager Ken Holland said.
The goalie, who was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Wild on March 1, has not played in the NHL since the 2019-20 season.
"Alex Stalock had COVID before the 56-game season and missed part of it," Holland said. "He was cleared and he came to play with us and was part of taxi squad. We did a physical and then he went home and he went and had additional tests. And through these additional tests, he found out that he maybe has a heart condition and he's seen a couple of cardiologists. He's looking to get a couple of additional opinions.
"I would say right now based on that today, I don't anticipate that he'll play hockey this year. But if he does get further opinions it might change his decision."
