The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Ryan Poehling to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.
The first season of the deal will be a two-way contract, paying Poehling $750,000 at the NHL level. In the second year, the contract will only be a one-way deal, paying the same amount.
Selected by the Canadiens 25th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft, Poehling set career-highs in goals (11) and assists (14) with the Laval Rocket, Montreal's AHL affiliate, last season. In 64 total games with Laval, Poehling has scored 16 times and assisted on 22 others for his team.
The 22-year-old has played 28 games in the NHL with Montreal, too, scoring four goals and an assist.
