Montreal Canadiens owner Geoff Molson has named France Margaret Bélanger the President of Sports and Entertainment of Groupe CH.
Molson remains the owner and President of Groupe CH, which encompasses the Canadiens and AHL affiliate Laval Rocket, but Bélanger will be in charge of daily operations, according to TVA's Renaud Lavoie.
Bélanger joined the organization in 2013 as senior vice-president and chief legal officer after spending 18 years at Stikeman Elliott law firm.
Bélanger is also an NHL Alternate Governor for the Canadiens and was selected by commissioner Gary Bettman to sit on the NHL's Executive Inclusion Council.
She is the first woman to serve on the club's executive committee in its 104-year history.
"With her mobilizing leadership and expertise France Margaret will continue building on successful partnerships and leading our one-team approach across the organization," Molson said in a statement.
During her time with the organization, Bélanger has led the team's hockey commercial strategy while also overseeing legal and public affairs and community relations.
"It is an honour for me to become the president, sports and entertainment of this iconic organization. Together with our amazing and talented teams, we will continue to develop and deliver world-class sports and entertainment events across our brands that create unique and memorable experiences for the best fans in the world," Bélanger said.
