{allcanada} Neal placed on waivers by Oilers, has two seasons left on contract

 

James Neal was placed on waivers by the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old forward has two seasons left on a five-year contract ($5.75 million average annual value) he signed with the Calgary Flames on July 2, 2018.

Neal was traded to the Oilers by the Flames on July 19, 2019. He scored 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 29 games this season for Edmonton, his fourth team in five seasons (Nashville Predators, Vegas Golden Knights, Flames).

A second-round pick (No. 33) by the Dallas Stars in the 2005 NHL Draft, Neal has scored 555 points (294 goals, 261 assists) in 850 regular-season games with the Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins, Predators, Golden Knights, Flames and Oilers, and 58 points (33 goals, 25 assists) in 110 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He scored at least 20 goals 10 times in 13 NHL seasons.
