The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed Travis Hamonic to a two-year deal worth $6 million, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
The defenceman had 10 points in 38 games in his first season with Canucks last year, with three goals and seven assists. His desire to remain in Western Canada was well-documented, as is Vancouver's need for defensive depth. The 30-year-old blue liner's new deal carries a $3-million cap hit, which is more than double last season's AAV ($1.25M).
The Canucks have had a busy week leading up to free agency, bringing in Olive Ekman-Larsson and Conor Garland from Arizona on Friday and trading d-man Nate Schmidt to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.
