The Montreal Canadiens and forward Joel Armia have agreed to a four-year, $13.6-million contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal carries an average annual value of $3.4 million and locks up the 28-year-old, who was slated to become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday, through the 2024-25 season.
The six-foot-four, 212-pound right winger put up 14 points in 41 games last season with the Canadiens, helping Montreal advance to its first Stanley Cup Final since 1993 with eight points in 21 post-season contests.
Armia has spent the past three seasons in Montreal, putting up a career-best 30 points across 58 games in the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 campaign.
