{allcanada} QMJHL Roundup: Sea Dogs return to action after extended layoff, beat Titan

BATHURST, N.B. — Ryan Francis didn't look like a player who went over three months without any game action.

Francis scored four times in his Saint John debut, and the Sea Dogs beat the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 5-3 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Francis was acquired in a trade with the Cape Breton Eagles in January while the QMJHL season was on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vladislav Kotkov scored once and set up three more while Peter Reynolds tacked on three assists for the Sea Dogs (6-6-4), who last played a game Nov. 18.

Mathieu Desgagnes, Ben Allison and Bennett MacArthur supplied the goals for the Titan (9-4-2), who played their last game Nov. 20.

Zachary Emond made 27 saves for Saint John as Jan Bednar stopped 31-of-36 shots for Acadie-Bathurst.

The league announced Feb. 27 that restrictions were lifted in New Brunswick, allowing games to resume for the Sea Dogs, Titan, and Moncton Wildcats starting Monday.

The three teams have not played since late November due to provincial government restrictions.
