Winnipeg Jets forward Jack Roslovic will miss the beginning of the team's training camp when it opens on Jan. 3, according to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press.
McIntyre reports that the 23-year-old restricted free agent is currently in Columbus, Oh., and is awaiting either a trade or a new contract. If a deal is worked out, Roslovic still faces a modified seven-day quarantine when he returns to Manitoba from Ohio and needs to test negative on four COVID tests.
The Jets are battling a salary cap crunch right now, and currently have a projected zero dollars with which to sign their final restricted free agent. However, moving veteran Bryan Little to the LTIR could provide some relief to the club.
As Sportsnet's Luke Fox explains, the Jets have reportedly shopped Roslovic this off-season, targeting a top-four, left-shot defenceman in return.
Last season, Roslovic posted career bests in goals (12), assists (17) and points (29) despite being used primarily in the Jets' bottom-six.
