{allcanada} Canucks goalie Braden Holtby stuck at U.S. border with pet tortoises

Braden Holtby's move to his new home appears to have slowed to a crawl.

In a plea posted Wednesday on Twitter, Brandi Holtby, the wife of the star goalie and off-season free-agent signing of the Vancouver Canucks, asked for help in securing export papers from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service because their two pet tortoises are stuck at U.S.-Canada border. Oh, yeah, and her husband, Braden Holtby, too.

Brandi Holtby explained the holdup stems from the fact that the couple didn't know they needed an export permit in addition to the import permit they acquired for the Canadian side of the border.

The Canucks signed the long-time Washington Capitals netminder and 2015-16 Vezina Trophy winner to a two-year, $8.6-million contract to replace the outgoing Jacob Markstrom.

UPDATE: On Thursday morning, Brandi Holtby shared some progress in their situation:

I will let you know when they are safely in Canada sipping a Double-Double and sharing Timbits.
