The Ottawa Senators have signed defenceman Artem Zub to a one-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Friday.
The 24-year-old spent the 2019-20 season with the KHL's SKA St. Petersburg, where he set career highs in goals (13), assists (nine) and points (22). Zub also posted a plus-35 over 57 games, tying for the league lead in that category.
Over six seasons in the KHL, Zub has recorded 19 goals and 54 points in 256 games with SKA St. Petersburg and Khabarovsk Amur.
"Artem is a smart defensive defenceman who moves the puck well and who utilizes his strength and mobility to make plays," Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said in a statement. "His extensive international resume will help him transition to a North American style of play but his key attribute is his sound ability to defend."
The Russian defenceman has represented his country in international play a number of times, including winning gold as a member of the Olympic Athletes from Russia team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Zub also won bronze with Russia at the 2017 and 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championships.
